FIELDTRIPS AND WORKSHOPS

As well as public outreach and education and environmental projects, Kids For Turtles provides educational hands on environmental fieldtrips and workshops.  In 2007, some of our activities included:

*Vernal Pools Workshop hosted by Scott Sampson of the Ontario Vernal Pools Association and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.

*Participation in the Ecopassages Forum at the Toronto Zoo.

*Fieldtrip to Sciensational Snakes to learn about reptile species at risk

*Organization and participation in the City of Orillia ‘Pitch-In’ Day to conduct spring trail clean-up.  Businesses such as McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Tim Hortons and Water Depot supported this event.

*Fieldtrip up the Swift Rapids Road area in north SevernTownship.  

*Fieldtrip and public presentation with live turtles and snakes at the Big Chute Marine Railway and generating station.  This event was in partnership with Ontario Power Generation.
