OUR HISTORY

In May 2006 a twelve year old girl from Washago, Ontario wrote a letter to our founder/mentor Bob Bowles.  Sydney Tanzola, and her friends were concerned about the number of turtles being killed by automobiles on her road.  Subsequently, Mr. Bowles formed Kids For Turtles.

Bob Bowles is a renowned naturalist and respected expert in all aspects of the environment, especially reptiles and amphibians, wildflowers, dragonflies and butterflies.  He is also a photographer, writer and professional environmental consultant involved in many projects with numerous agencies and associations.  His respected expertise involves providing evidence at provincial OMB hearings regarding environmental issues.

The Kids For Turtles program is not just kids. The bulk of the membership is made up of youth and their families as well as professional and retirees with extensive expertise in the environment, consulting, development, scientific research and education.
