KIDS FOR TURTLES Environmental Education, in sponsorship with local home developer, Mariposa Homes, will be hosting Orillia’s First Annual Mariposa Butterfly Festival on June 28, 2008. The venue for the festival is within the City Of Orillia at 1 Monarch Drive in the Westridge subdivision. The Mariposa Butterfly Festival will feature a craft area, face-painting, a butterfly costume contest, a curriculum-related school art/writing contest, indoor butterfly displays, nature walks to local butterfly habitats, butterfly-related items for sale, and more! Proceeds from the butterfly festival will go toward defraying the cost of hosting the festival, with any profits going to Kids For Turtles for their environmental projects. KIDS FOR TURTLES Environmental Education and Mariposa Homes hope that this will become an annual event for the City of Orillia promoting more people to visit our city, some of whom we hope may decide to make Orillia their home. Most of all we hope it will raise awareness for butterfly species at risk and what we can do to protect their habitats.
